Colorado Luis (via SquareState): "MyDD caught this GJ Sentinel item about Delta County Commissioner Wayne Wolf announcing that he will enter the Republican primary for the U.S. Senate nomination against Bob Schaffer. Now, I know nothing about Wayne Wolf other than what the Sentinel noted in their article -- that he's a 5th generation rancher from the Western Slope -- but why wouldn't that make him at least as strong a candidate for the Republicans as Backwards Bob?
"Anyway, what I found most interesting in the article is Wolf telling the Sentinel that state GOP chair Dick Wadhams called him up to essentially warn him away from the race. So, in four short years we've gone from Republican leaders working against Bob Schaffer's Senate bid -- because they know Schaffer is a radical conservative who is out of touch with the mainstream of Colorado -- to having the state GOP chair work to clear the primary for him? Just more brilliant strategery from the man who helped turn George Allen from a presidential hopeful into an ex-Senator from Virginia."

Here's the link to the Federal Elections 2006: Election Results for the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. Thanks to Political Wire for the link. They write, "The Federal Election Commission's book of 2006 election returns, Federal Elections 2006, has been released and is available free by calling the FEC at 800-424-9530. The new guide is more in depth than any previous FEC publication of returns and features several illustrative maps. Of course, you can also download it from the agency's website."
Political Wire: "A new New York Times/CBS News poll finds Rudy Giuliani leading the Republican presidential race with 27%, followed by Fred Thompson at 22%, Sen. John McCain at 18% and Mitt Romney at 14%. Last month, Giuliani held a 20-point lead over Thompson, who had not officially declared his candidacy yet. On the Democratic side, Sen. Hillary Clinton leads with 44%, trailed by Sen. Barack Obama at 26% and John Edwards at 17%."

From The Rocky Mountain News, "The Denver Elections Division has assembled an advisory committee to study which method of voting to use during the 2008 primary and general election. Denver has been discussing at least three voting models: traditional precinct-based polling places, vote centers or superprecincts, which combine multiple precincts in one location...The panel will meet Tuesdays at 2 p.m., starting today, until Oct. 9, in Room 1B6 in the Wellington Webb Municipal Office Building, 201 W. Colfax Ave. The meetings are open to the public."
