Denver November 2004 Election

The Republicans in the legislature still haven't given up on their last minute gerrymander from last spring. They're now asking the Federal Supreme Court to freeze the districts and are urging the court to make a decision by mid-February, according to the Rocky Mountain News [September 28, 2004, "GOP map to court"]. From the article, "The Republican court filing cites several cases related to the controversial Florida presidential recount in 2000. Citing Bush v. Gore, it argues that rather than giving the legislature the power to determine policy, the state Supreme Court let a judge decide." Citing Bush v. Gore will win a lot of bi-partisan support.

Update: The Denver Post is reporting that Gary Hart will not run for the Senate seat held by Ben Nighthorse Campbell [January 28, 2004, "Key Dem: Hart likely won't run for Senate"]. The report comes from an interview with a top Democratic recruiter, Jon Corzine.
