Bill Ritter endorsed his Chief Deputy, Mitch Morrisey, according to the Rocky Mountain News [March 24, 2004, "Ritter backs top deputy in bid for Denver DA"]. From the article, "Ritter is prohibited from running for re-election because of term limits. The other candidates are former Manager of Safety Beth McCann, 55, who now works as the state's deputy attorney general for litigation, and John Walsh, 42, a former federal judge and federal prosecutor who works at Hill & Robbins. McCann's endorsements include former Mayor Wellington Webb and Attorney General Ken Salazar. Walsh's endorsements include Sen. Peter Groff, Sen. Terrance Carroll and Rollie Heath, who ran for governor in 2002."
Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [March 24, 2004, "DA Ritter endorses colleague for post"].
