Happy 100th Birthday Richard Rodgers!

There was a nice little piece (RealAudio)on NPR this morning about RR, which led me to their audio-Rich Rodgers site. Lots of great things there.

Including this page listing some of his tunes, with links to RealAudio...which I can't listen to right now because I'm at work (supposed to be working AND RealAudio is fire-walled)...need to find out if those audio clips are full tunes or just snips. Could be a real find if they are complete tunes.

That page also has a couple of quotes that linked me with a couple special people and last nights Richard Rodgers Centennial Celebration on The New Jazz Thing! (gotta clean that page up).

Lee Ann Westover was her totally cool and 'beautiful' self, waxing lovingly about Rodgers and 'Oklahoma'. Here's a quote for her:

And my supportive sister Cindy, who thought the first 45 minutes sounded good and that she had to laugh when Fred Hersch talked about "The Surrey With The Fringe On Top"...she thought the title was just a funny thing! (She's just know becoming a RR convert...it was always inside her.) I thought about comparing the "Surrey" story to a modern-day dude crowing about taking his dude-ette out for a spin in his new Camaro Z-28 (dude!), but there's a whole other side to it when you read what Oscar Hammerstein II, the lyric writer, said about it...

"I don't cry at sadness in the theater. I cry at naïve happiness. the fact that two people are looking forward, with great anticipation, to a ride in a surrey to a dance makes me cry."

Naive happiness. What the world needs now.

Some interesting ideas for loading up the blogwagon with print journalists (and not just writers, at that, but photographers, etc.) and print media readers. Didn't Dave talk about this very subject a couple of weeks go?

BPMI.org releases first draft of the Business Process Modeling Language (BPML) which is intended to provide a common language for business process modeling. Press Release

I browsed around the site to see what BPML is all about and without looking at the spec (and hopefully some examples), I'm still fuzzy. But it does sound like something that's appropriate for an aspiring business analyst to get up to speed on. Oh...I guess that means me.
