MySAP Technology Presentations - Code in J2EE or ABAP
A couple of presentations (in PDF format) at SAP Sapphire 2001 in Brisbane, Australia provide some diagrams with information about the infrastructure and possibilies of the MySAP Technology.

mySAP Technology for Open E-Business Integration indicates the ability to write ABAP (SAP language) and J2EE applications on the Web Application Server layer that then speak to the standard SAP Application Server. So you would have a choice of writing in either tool (I would imagine the user interfaces would be written in Java Server Pages in the J2EE model).

mySAP Technology - SAP Web Application Server is a more bulleted approach (the first presentation diagrams are really too busy), but seems to lay out the technology in clearer way.

OnlineJournalismReview (OJR): Where Net Luminaries Turn For News

Blog Blog Blog Blog.

And a newspaper or two.

My current on-line news subscriptions, at least the ones that syndicate in RSS so my machine can do the walking for me, are in the bottom right navigation of the site (or itself in a machine readable format right here). I also read, when I get a spare moment, the home-delivered print version of the SD Union Tribune (which on-line has a horrible archive policy for it's articles...meaning they're only there for a couple of days then the links die...wake up and smell the blog possibilities).

InformationWeek: Military Deal Highlights EDS's Woes
"But technical and other delays have pushed the project 18 months behind schedule and drained cash that EDS needs to compete for new contracts.

EDS and Navy officials say engineers have struggled, for one, to bring old hardware and software used in the communications system up to new security standards.

Also, Congress demanded additional testing requirements because of the project's size. It's the federal government's largest information-technology outsourcing deal, and one which could be a model for other agencies."

EDS is an SAIC competitor. And being in the same business with many of the same customers, there are probably lots of lessons to be learned here. And if Congress demanded additional testing, wouldn't they also have to pay for the additional requirements? Or is that not how government contracts work. Doesn't seem fair to take that out of EDS's bottom line.

intellegentERP: Powering mySAP.com
"In an earlier column (IntelligentERP, April 10, 2000), I discussed SAP's Internet Business Framework and described the architecture that SAP has been rolling out for its next-generation products. In this column, I will discuss the technology that is powering mySAP.com and the much-talked about SAP Business Connector. I will also let you take a peek into webMethod's continued support of RosettaNet."

This and the previous articles are all dated in 2000. Wonder if anything has changed. How does R/3 Enterprise fit into this?

intelligentERP: Introducing SAP's Internet Business Framework
"The Internet Business Framework is the technology that powers mySAP.com, SAP's recently launched e-workplace and e-marketplace. It is an extension of R/3's Business Framework Architecture, launched in 1996, which encompasses SAP integration technologies such as Application Link Enabling (ALE) and business APIs (BAPIs). Now, the next-generation framework incorporates XML, HTML, and HTTP components to e-enable R/3. This is accomplished with new products such as the SAP Business Connector. ALE and BAPI are technologies that enable an interface with R/3 from external systems, while the SAP Business Connector converts these ALE/BAPI messages to and from Internet messages in, say, XML (see Figure 1). This article provides an overview of the technology and architecture of the Internet Business Framework, while exploring mySAP.com and the new SAP Business Connector."

intellegentERP: SAP Web Reporting - How to Use The ITS Web Reporting Browser
"There are several ways to make SAP-based information interact with the Web: You can use BAPIs and develop Java applets or servlets. You could also use SAP's Internet Transaction Server (ITS) and develop Web-based applications using Web remote function calls (RFCs). Or you could use Internet Application Components (IACs), which run on ITS; a number of IACs are available from SAP, but you can also create your own."
