Dane Carlson points to the BBC News article that says redheads are more susceptible to pain than are most people. I am in pain right now. Pictured below is a small hematoma, only 6 mm wide, but my whole leg feels sore from the blister.

I used to think that redheads were more atuned to all kinds of physical sensation. While pain is delivered by a type of nerve ending (neuronal sensor), other types of sensation have their own sensors. Pain sensors may be more abundant in redhead skin, but other sensors may may not be. To find out, compare the number of sensors in redheads against the skin from a brunette.
