I have a certain photographic style, but I accepted an offer to photograph a wedding anyway. My own wedding wasn't photographed, but I have done one for friends before. I was able to hide behind the fact I was doing it for free, but this time it's for money so I'll have to do a good job.
Ok, I'm a bit scared - most advice I've gotten has been DON'T DO IT! But I'm gonna anyway.
I know there are some rules, one being have a backup camera, so I'll take (at least one) film camera, loaded with print film. Also, you're supposed to have an off camera flash. I'll need to live without this, as well as a telephoto lens. Maybe I can rent those.
There are some standard shots I should take:
- Bride with and without parents
- Groom with and without parents
- The couple w/wo parents
- Bride with each attendant
- Bride with all attendants
- Groom with groomsmen
- Special items that cost a lot (not me!)
- Bride coming up the aisle with escort
- Ring and vows
- Couple coming back down aisle
- Kids, Grandparents, friends, etc.
- Cake cutting and kiss
- Rings, invitations, etc.
- The toast
- Portraits of the couple
- ... and the families
And anything else that should be in there. I'll try to keep this as by the book as I can, so wish me luck!
[I was warned!]
