This 10-minute CNN discussion is well worth watching if you're trying to understand the Yates verdict. One big issue: the jury did not know that a finding of not guilty by reason of insanity would keep her in the hospital in Texas. In some states, such a verdict allows the person to be released in a year. So, the jury may have concluded that the only way to give any measure of punishment (or possibly to protect other people) was the guilty verdict. 10:16:20 AM
