Scott E. Fahlman: href=http://www.research.ibm.com/journal/sj/414/forum.pdf. Fahlman is an IBM researcher and this paper seems to be a key document in pay-to-spam thinking.

"Pay-To-Spam Inches Closer To Reality" [Extreme Tech] This is a project by the person who started tipjar.com. He claims that PayPal took the same idea as tipjar, but much later, and got venture capital for it -- a claim I think is fairly lame since the business idea of providing a tipjar vs. a payment-for-anything service is totally different, regardless of the fact that the technical infrastructure may be very similar.
