Sometimes people want to collaborate rather than compete. Garth apparently wants to be able to make improvements without cutting himself off from all the future benefits that UserLand may provide. Makes perfect sense to me.

RTFM. Sure, the content is amusing. What I found more interesting was the mechanism used. In many very real ways, this represents a security hole.
