Paul Baker Moves to WordPress, Launches EducationPR Blog.

Paul Baker, a public relations practitioner with Wisconsin Center for Education Research, has moved his blog to WordPress, and re-launched it as EducationPR, focusing now on “Technology for communicators in education.” In a recent post on classroom podcasts, he gives tips for making a good one–some good suggestions, I’d say, regardless of the educational level. Here’s the blog’s new RSS feed.

Thump, thump, glow, glow: Mice with luminous hearts.

There is the heart of gold, and then there is the heart that glows. Literally. Cornell researchers have genetically engineered mice whose hearts glow with a green light every time they beat. The development gives researchers insights into how hearts develop in living mouse embryos and could improve our understanding of irregular heartbeats, known as arrhythmias, as well as open doors to observing cellular processes to better understand basic physiology and disease.

One in three adults lonely, especially folks in their forties.

More than a third of adults are lonely, with people in their forties suffering the highest levels, according to a study published in the latest Journal of Clinical Nursing. People with strong religious beliefs were less likely to be lonely and people who were unemployed reported higher levels of loneliness than people who were retired.
