Slashdot Firefox Extension. [Slashdot] This is an interesting model of a thick client that facilitates discussions and other activities related to the slashdot site. If the slashdot site were really an course management sytem portal then this kind of extension would facilitate learning by making better use of the browser as a personalizable interface for learners -- BL

But, in some circumstances, men choose to read articles that will fuel their anger, while women choose articles that will dissipate it.

Open-Government Technique Used on Iraqi Documents. [Slashdot] To the victors go the documents and the work goes to the open source model of many helping hands. This is a truly interesting move to at one stroke open the star chamber and publish the regime notes in bulk to the world. Given the NSA data mining and processing power this seems like a gesture after the "golden documents" have been sifted out on the first pass. In any event the transparancy notion is laudable and perhaps could set a trend that would be of great value to historians - an open archive via google. -- BL
