2 Digital Cameras That May Surpass Film. The makers of two new digital cameras claim that they surpass film's ability to capture fine image details. By Ian Austen. [New York Times: Technology] 'Dr. Mehra of Kodak said because color film was made of layers of light-sensitive coatings, it could not match the resolution, or detail-capturing ability, of Kodak's new camera. "It diffuses the image," he said of film. But he added that film still outperformed the digital camera in areas like color accuracy and tolerance for improper exposure settings.'

Pioneer Promises Discrete Surround Sound from a Single Speaker
Long Beach, CA (October 3, 2002)--Pioneer Electronics has introduced the PDSP-1, which, according to the company, is the world's first digital sound projector that utilizes a single-source speaker panel to deliver discrete 5.1-channel surround sound audio with more than 500 watts of power. World's First Completely Solid State 24 Track Hard Disk Recorder - Topic Powered by Infopop: "Studer and SSL will all be demonstrating RADAR integrated into their new Vista 7 and Avant consoles. They'll be showing RADAR jump through hoops under the full control of Soundmaster for post production applications.

Sony will also be demoing RADAR in their booth with the DMXR100 and the new RADAR support for DMXR100 mix automation."

Very cool stuff. And this isn't even the big news. They have a 24 track solid-state recorder?! Yowsa!
