BBC: "A US music industry crackdown on internet music 'pirates' has sent subpoenas to allegedly unwitting parents and grandparents, court documents have shown." [Scripting News] // Add this quote too: "Within five minutes, if I can get hold of her, this will come to an end," I sure wish more of them just didn't know their kids and their kids friends are doing this. While I believe there are some who are clueless, I believe more kind of like the fact the kid is getting away with something and not asking for cash for records.

Charles Cooper: "Instead of opting for a proprietary land grab, a company that was an RSS tools builder freely gave up its guardianship to a nonprofit trust." Thanks! [Scripting News]

P2P companies may face new scrutiny. A new Congressional bill would require file-swapping companies to get parental permission before allowing minors to use their services. [CNET News.com] // Hmmm.....they see this as saving the children from porn. I see it as another way to wake up the clueless parents in the world who would not be pleased picking up their kid at the police station because he stole a CD from Best Buy but grin almost in a proud fashion telling me that their kid has filled up the hard drive with music and adware. They then want me to unf*&k the machine for them. They tend to be in a hurry most times too and of course can't afford to pay for it. Of course, their kid is stealing the music, what should I expect from their folks. Don't get me wrong, the record companies suck but let's put them out of business honestly and legally not by teaching our children that stealing is OK by looking the other way or giving me that proud parental grin. I need to flesh this out for a post on the business site. This bothers me more and more each day.
