On Tuesday, drunk and rowdy engineers stormed into my CS486 class and forced the prof. to end the lecture early. This kind of thing happens every year around this time, I think in conjuction with the iron ring cult thing. Mobs of graduating engineers dress up, get drunk, and run around EL trashing anything that isn't nailed down and disrupting classes. They usually just come in, yell stuff, erase whatever's on the board. Maybe they think that since we're in an engineering building must be non-graduating engineers who want to be liberated from the bordom of class. This makes sense in a kind of high school logic "I don't want to be here" way, but I don't think anyone in our class felt that way.

Our prof Peter van Beek didn't have a lot of patience for the disruption and physically herded the intruders out the door. But they just kept coming back, this time with more people, and through both doors. All of us students just sat there watching, except for one less passive guy who ran up to the front of the class to help the prof. push people out the door. One of the engineers got upset when his drink spilled so he threw it at somebody and missed, covering the blackboard with some awful looking and smelling mix. I have to admit while I was annoyed, the whole incident was also slightly entertaining.
