A brief discussion on Creatures as a programming system on Lambda the Ultimate. Francis Irving, one of the Creatures developers, outlines why they used a language of their own creation rather than an established language.

Lambda the Ultimate points to some work from Philip Wadler on a language designed for programming web applications. It looks to combine ideas from continuation based systems, Erlang, and various query languages. The slides give an overview of the different systems.

I like this idea from Russell Beattie. He is serializing free books via RSS. You pick a book and a chunk size and you get a chunk of that book delivered via RSS daily. It sounds like a good way to read a book you otherwise would not have found time to read.

Bill Clementson has a good post about design considerations for domain specific languages. His post has a pointer to an online book I hadn't come across previously. 'Programming Languages: Application and Interpretation' by Shriram Krishnamurthi.
