How do lives fall so completely--and so privately--apart?
Horrific accounts of people living in squalid conditions. This interesting article leads to many questions - about the social safety net, about coping with life in modern U.S. society, and about losing control. For myself, I felt strangely motivated to clean up some of my own minor messes around the house. It also goes to prove one of my guiding axioms of life: There will always be people better off, and worse off than you. (Well, at least it proves the "worse off" part.)
