Tankless Army by 2012?
Maybe not after the proven usefulness of the heavy tanks in Gulf War II. On the other hand, we have reports today on CNN of Bradley Fighting Vehicles knocking out T-72 tanks near Baghdad International Airport.

Russian hand behind Iraqi defiance?
MOSCOW APRIL 4. Retired Russian generals helped Iraq prepare for war, a media report said here.
Who shall we blame for the stiff Iraqi resistance? Certainly there are many nations around the world who might have hoped the U.S. to encounter a new Vietnam in Iraq. On CNN the other night, it was reported that a retired INDIAN general had trained the Iraqi army. There have been reports that the Chinese built the bombardment resistant fiber optic communication system for Iraq, to prevent a reply of the first Gulf War shutdown of Iraqi Command and Control. During the fighting, there were reports of Russian advisors maintaining GPS jammers for the Iraqi army. Maybe we'll even find some U.S. folks helped out =). Or perhaps the credit just goes to smart Iraqi generals themselves.

"It's necessary to end the anti-American hysteria that has caught up our media. Especially because it can bring us to a dead end not only in foreign policy but in domestic policy as well," Piontkovskii said
