NEAR AS SAMAWAH, Iraq - Coalition soldiers operating in central Iraq have been instructed to search for Russian-made anti-tank missiles that Iraqi soldiers or guerrillas are suspected of using to damage two U.S. M1-A1 Abrams tanks and a Bradley fighting vehicle.

Search for "Kornet" and "M1 Abrams" should get lots of hits on this subject

7th Cavalry News

I, like many have been transfixed by Walter Roger's reporting of the actions of the 7th Cav in Iraq. Here is a site that tracks news articles related to the 7th Cav.

Abrams tank brings nasty surprise

DOHA, April 2: Among the many surprises that awaited the invading forces in Iraq was their enemy's ability to knock out the US army's most advanced battle tank.

Defence analysts believe the three - perhaps five - M1-A2 Abrams tanks which have been disabled so far appear to have been hit by a weapon far more potent than the decades-old RPG-7 rocket propelled grenade.

Instead, it seems the Iraqis - who say they have knocked out dozens of US tanks - may be using the Kornet-E, an export version of a Russian laser-guided missile which can destroy tanks fitted with explosive reactive armour.

Battle through, around Karbala Gap likely to be `hell of a fight'

This article also mentions destruction of an M1 by a Russian made Kornet anti tank missile.

M1s destroyed by enemy fire in Iraq?

It has not been clearly reported how many M1s have been destroyed (not disabled) by enemy fire in Iraq.
