1969 -- 4 Black Panther activist leaders murdered in their beds by Chicago police with complicity by the FBI. This makes at least 19 Panther leaders (they claim 28) killed in 18 months.
1970 -- Cesar Chavez jailed for 20 days for refusing to call off United Farm Workers lettuce boycott.
1980 -- United Nations agrees to establish University of Peace in Costa Rica.
1981 -- President Reagan authorizes CIA to spy on its citizens. The CIA charter originally banned domestic surveillance to prevent it from becoming Gestapo-like.

What organizer Laurie David, wife of HBO star Larry David, hoped would be about 100 left leaning Entertainment Industry people attending a Tuesday Night fundraiser& strategy meeting for electing a Democratic president next year, turned into a right wing media frenzy, with Drudge, Limbaugh et al calling it the "Hollywood Hate Bush Meeting." The thing is, we don't hate the shrub. Somewhere inside his silver spoon molded character is a human heart & a young boy's spirit, but he's been influenced for so long by people with mean streaks that he's leading the nation down a black road & we're consequently trampling people left & right, worldwide. Author's Note: I've been working around the clock on my new book, "Fanatics, Fools and Alpha Males," which will be published in March by Miramax Books. It's a collection of resignation letters written by disaffected members of the Bush administration who so disagreed with administration policies that they preferred the uncertainty of the unemployment line to toeing the party line. Think you're already amazed, alarmed or appalled enough by the state of US journalism today? Chew on this a while and think again. Grieving New Hampshire widow who lost her man on 9/11 refuses the government's million dollar hush money payoff, studies the facts of the day for nearly two years, and comes to believe the White House "intentionally allowed 9/11 to happen" to launch a so-called "War on Terrorism" for personal and political gain. She retains a prominent lawyer, a former Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania, who served with distinction under both Democrats and Republicans and was once a strong candidate for the governor's seat.
The attorney files a 62-page complaint in federal district court (including 40 pages of prima facie evidence) charging that "President Bush and officials including, but not limited to Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Ashcroft and Tenet":
1.) had adequate foreknowledge of 911 yet failed to warn the county or attempt to prevent it;
2.) have since been covering up the truth of that day;
3.) have therefore abetted the murder of plaintiff's husband and violated the Constitution and multiple laws of the United States; and
4.) are thus being sued under the Civil RICO (Racketeering, Influence, and Corrupt Organization) Act for malfeasant conspiracy, obstruction of justice and wrongful death...
...Imagine the world-churning implications of these charges. Imagine the furor if just one was proved true. Imagine the courage of this bribe-shunning widow and an eminent attorney with his rep on the line. Then imagine a press conference to which nobody came... ...Now imagine the air time, column inches and talk show hysteria that same night devoted to the legal hassles of Michael, Kobe, and Scott Peterson...

Last February, AnShell Media, an investor group led by Anita and Sheldon Drobny, who had a history of financially supporting Democratic candidates, announced they were going to start a liberal radio network to counterbalance the right leaning blow hard Limbaugh & clones so pervasive on the airwaves. Monday's NY Times reported that the new endeavor, entitled Progress Media, is:
"...steady as she goes to have a broadcast debut in early 2004, which gives us time to be part of the election year," said Mark Walsh, the company's chief executive and an Internet entrepreneur formerly with VerticalNet and America Online…
The article says they're close to procuring stations in 5 of the 10 biggest markets: NYC, L.A., San Fran (never call it Frisco), Phily & Boston & plans are afoot to get stations in other towns too. Are you ready for the Al Franken Show? After recently listening to the audio tape version of his best selling book, "Lies & The Lying Liars That Tell Them," the Rhino is good & ready. May be more effective than his running for the Senate.
