NYC bound
I am off to NYC for a week or two to do some SQL Server database tuning and potentially spec out a data warehouse implementation. Warehousing is very mundane in a way, because you're doing simple things (load CSV file) that become complex only because they involve huge datasets and involved/time-series queries that don't suit normal SQL all that well. Both the caching and pregeneration of canned reports and the essential extract/tranform/loading phase are good opportunities to get a lot of leverage out of scripting. I'm looking forward to the trip, and catching up some folks in the City.
