Down Memory Lane...
Sam and Joe are talking about my post from yesterday. Joe remarked about the large size of the VC 1.52 package. Actually, as I recall it, the mother of all heavyweight software packaging was Microsoft C++ 7.0, which was released before I joined Microsoft. The package for that one was about two feet long but, as I recall, weighed more than 12 pounds. (Perhaps that is the release Joe was talking about?) I remember some folks who were at Microsoft for that release telling me the story that there was a scramble after they released to manufacturing when someone questioned if the weight of the package was greater than the maximum allowed by U.P.S. (they hadn't thought of that). It turned out that it was under the limit but not by much.
