...And today, too!
I posted a question about my little date formatting problem to the Radio Userland discussion group, and got immediate response from one of the guys at UserLand Software. This morning as I was sifting through my Inbox, I found two messages from UserLand, in response to the issues I only commented on here in my weblog. That's customer management for'ya.
I think the key to making great software is not only to write good code and put in good features. It's to make the users feel they are being well taken care of and that someone cares about what the feel about the software. If a user feels comfortable using even the most bug-ridden piece of crapware, knowing that any bugs he finds and reports will be investigated and fixed, he will stick to that piece of software. Or rather, he will stick to the makers of it. So, if you're desperate to be the new Gates, don't put all your efforts into employing the best programmers money can buy. Get the best people. Get people you know you'll like and get them to like their new jobs. If, in addition to just being great and lovable, they can also write code, you're home free. Trust me.
UserLand Software, will you be my valentine?
