Rory Perry's Weblog Law, technology, and the courts Live from CTC8 Chief Justice Jean Toal of South Carolina just finished her keynote address to begin the Eighth National Court Technology Conference, or CTC8, here in Kansas City. (And I've got fast clean WiFi for my TiBook here in the CyberCafe.) In these times of tight IT budgets, one thing Chief Justice Toal stressed rings especially true: The cutting edge in court technology will occur in the smallest, most rural areas of this country.Small budgets motivate innovation and partership -- critical creativity that moves projects forward. Budget pressures are certainly a motivating factor in my choice of public access technologies; witness this weblog and the ones I run for the courts. I'm looking forward to sharing these thoughts with colleagues later today during my presentation. 11:16:32 AM [Permanent Link]
