Disaster preparation for courts
I will be attending the Ninth Annual Court Technology Conference CTC9 in Seattle next week. Some of the educational sessions will be webcast, including a session called "The Technology of Disasters: What you can learn about Court Emergency Preparedness from Hurricane Battered Florida". In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the National Center for State Courts has created a resource clearinghouse to "allow courts throughout the country to volunteer equipment, personnel, and other resources to the courts in the disaster area." 11:47:39 AM [Permanent Link]
Argument Docket added to September 12
The Court late Friday issued a rule to show cause in a case filed a member of the West Virginia Senate, challenging the constitutionality of certain language in an Executive Proclamation convening the Legislature into special session, relating to reducing the rate of consumer sales and service tax and use tax on food. The case is set for argument on Monday, September 12 at 9:00 am. All papers filed in the case, including the rule to show cause, have been posted to the Court's web site. 11:37:20 AM [Permanent Link]
