It has begun and what a surprise! Senegal won the opening match again defending champion France, 1:0. France wasn't playing as expected without the world best player, Zidane. The only goal scored Pape Bouba Diop in the 30th minute.
Second XBOX soccer game was FIFA 2002 World Cup from Electronic Arts. This is the only soccer game available that has the license for the World Cup, all emblems, mascots and stadiums. Of course, the game features all 32 teams that qualified for the World Cup and the annoying reporter.
The first soccer game for XBOX console was ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002 from Konami, released in April 2002. The game features all 10 real teams and players from US soccer league MLS. The game also supports franchise mode which allows you to take a team and lead it to victory in five seasons. MLS ExtraTime 2002 also includes over 60 national teams and clubs from other contries, but doesn't use real player names.

Hello and Welcome to new category on my Weblog. Since the World Cup 2002 starts in less than 4 hours I tough it would be a good time to start a new section on soccer games that are available or will be available on the XBOX console.
I’m sure you are all familiar with XBOX. If you aren’t, you can get a lot of information about this console on the Internet. If you are new to XBOX world you should visit the official XBOX web site. Make sure you also read Tom’s XBOX review. You’ll learn a lot!
Most of you should be familiar with the game of soccer, or football as it’s called over here in Europe. Soccer is sport no. 1 in most European countries, like Italy, Spain, Germany, and nonetheless also in “my” Slovenia (Slovenia is the smallest country that ever qualified for the World Cup!). If you are not that familiar with soccer you should visit the official FIFA web site. You’ll find almost everything you need to know about soccer on this site. If you are from US you should also check out the official MLS web site. Major League Soccer (MLS) is the soccer league in the US.
