What's so special about it?
I grew up just across the border from Canada (One of the reasons I probably like Tanya Huff's "Keeper" series is that I recognize a lot of the places the characters visit on both sides of the border. It's a little chunk of childhood nostalgia/familiarity.).

Not that I went there very often... I went to a parochial school (grades 1-8 at the time, had to go to the public high school). We had an 8th grade trip... went up to Montreal for the day. I don't actually remember much of it (It was over 25 years ago folks!). First big city I'd ever seen. Hadn't even been to the nearest large US city at that point (Syracuse).

Anyway... enough rambling...

Running low on beer (I don't buy a lot but it's a nice occasional treat), the stuff I'd bought last time had gone up $1.50/six pack (Sam Adams). That's more than I want to spend... I used to buy Guinness (in bottles) until it went up to $8 for six bottles.

So.. I bought a six of Molson in bottles (It was a lot cheaper). Canadian beer? Not something I drink. My father always drank Genny (Genesee), a good, solid , cheap, North Eastern blue collar brew. (Sort of the Coors of NY). Nasty stuff... I believe their bottling plant is down stream of the Kodak film processing plants in Rochester, NY.

The Molson (Golden) was a bit bland. Guess I need to find another beer to drink... Need to buy it from somewhere else. Guess I need to make a trip to another grocery store for other things...

That was weird...

Okay... shopping at Wal-Mart after work... not the best idea... even after a big lunch (we had pizza at the office today - lunch meeting) I spent twice as much as I'd planned (needed to buy a couple shirts and a few odd-n-ends).

Yes folks, I DO shop at Wal-Mart. I live on the outskirts of a small city... the other options cost twice as much for the things I buy.

And sure... their clothes aren't the highest quality but I found that the shirts and pants I buy there tend to last just as long as ones from the more expensive stores.

Anyway... the outer door at the store wouldn't open for me... could have sworn someone went thru it right before I did... had to use another door.

Did they think I was shop lifting? The door didn't "ping" when I went thru it so I didn't have anything with an active tag in my cart. (And they are very honor-system oriented there. They expect you to stop if you get "pinged" at the first door (Yes, I've had it happen. The thing that turns off the tag doesn't always work.)

Or was the door just acting a little weird? It certainly made me worry -- for no reason (I checked my stuff when I got home -- nothing I didn't pay for in my bags.).
