Some fair to go with my balance.

The Bush administration chose to go to war in Iraq. Whether that was a sound strategic move or not in a larger war on terrorism, the timing and conduct of the campaign were dictated by the United States. So shouldn't we have known what we were getting into? Shouldn't this occupation and reconstruction have been planned carefully, the costs and hazards honestly assessed?

Look what we're getting instead.

Washington Post: "The president, speaking after attacks on police stations and a Red Cross facility in Iraq killed at least 35 people, said such attacks should be seen as a sign of progress because they show the desperation of those who oppose the U.S.-led occupation."

Geez, who writes his stuff, Glenn Reynolds?

John McCain: "This is the first time that I have seen a parallel to Vietnam, in terms of information that the administration is putting out versus the actual situation on the ground."

I sat next to Scott day 2 of BloggerCon. Great guy and from what he shared they are doing amazing things. I look forward to having the chance to learn more from Scott.

J. Scott Johnson's Feedster search engine just keeps getting better and better (he's spidering all the XML/RSS feeds that are on blogs and other sites and letting you search only those). I keep wondering if we're going to be talking about Feedster the way we talk about Google today. Remember, five years ago Google didn't exist. Five years ago everyone in the industry said "Alta Vista is the best."

Want to keep in touch with what the bloggers are saying at the PDC? Check out the Feedster PDC page.

via the InstaPundent "Fast Fact Checking" this shows the emergent role of lowly blogs in journalism.

Now, I'm a lowly blogger sitting in Northern Virginia with little more than Google and a good memory for stories. Yet with this simple fact-check I'm able to undercut one of the main thrusts of the article... that even Saddam did a better job than we're doing. [AMCGLTD.COM]
