Edward Tufte in Austin: October 7.

Information design kingpin Edward Tufte is going to be in Austin on October 7 for a one-day course on Presenting Data and Information.

A couple of colleages have been to these seminars in the past and have come away with glowing reviews. The event is pretty pricey, but your fee includes all three Tufte books, Visual
Explanations, Envisioning Information, and The Visual Display of
Quantitative Information, as well as a poster.

There's a chance I'll get bowled over during the "We're not worthy!" prostrating from the user interface design crowd, but that's not going to hold me back.

Blog Manifesto

ChangeThis publishes my manifesto.

My words seem a lot more official when they are put into a well-designed PDF file. Here's my Corporate Weblogger Manifesto. That was done by the ChangeThis folks. They are collecting manifestos from people trying to change the world. Great stuff!

Guest bloggers introduce new people to blogging

Posner has some very nice post up on Lessig's blog. I like the new trend of guest bloggers that has emerged this summer. I think Josh was the first that I saw of this cool new vehicle for introducing more people to bloggers and bloggers to more people.

Now, This Might Make Blogging Important. Amazing. Richard Posner is blogging this week over at Lessig's place. For a lawyer/blogger, this is a "holy shit" moment. The man's ideas about law and economics may have provided intellectual cover for a couple of generations of reactionary lawyers... [Fables of the reconstruction]
