As it turns, the Windows XP CD writer software was the culprit. It just could not verify and close the CD after it had written it. I went through eleven CDs before I gave up.

I went digging through my HP software disks and discovered the HP CD Writer software that came with my laptop - the one I had never installed. So I installed it and it runs like an absolute champ and is actually faster and easier to use than the XP interface.

Lots of morals to this story. But the big one is that this just reinforces my intense dislike of Microsoft software. MS software is just too damn flakey and buggy!!!!!

My laptop is almost four years old. As such, it has a now, miniscule 18 G hard drive. Which is almost full. So, today, on a sunny gorgeous day much better spent outside than inside, I'm attempting to copy all of my photos over to Cd's.

This seemingly simple task is proving to be virtually impossible. For some reason, either the CD writer software or the drive itself can't seem to finish the job. We make it through the entire copying process and then I get an error stating that the CD can't be finished. I've tried it ten times with only one success.

I have to say that I am getting massively pissed off.

I may just buy a hard drive and transfer my pictures to that. But I would really prefer the more durable CD media as opposed to a hard drive that can get roached.

This is total crap and I am completely pissed off.
