Urinary Tract Follies II

So, weeks before my implant wires moved, I've had continuing significant urinary tract pain. I thought it was just my stupid irritable bladder flaring up again. Which was very discouraging. However, I thought there was a small chance that I might have an infection. But I can't tell you how many times, I've thought I've had an infection and it just turned out to be the usual pain and no infection. It makes you feel like total whiney butt doofus.

However, after three weeks of discomfort, I thought I should probably at least go pee in a cup today. Even though I felt like a total idiot.

Well, guess what! It is an infection! Yea!!!!!! I realize my glee seems very warped. However, a urinary tract infection can be treated. The pain can go away. Which is sometimes seriously not the case with Irritable Bladder Syndrome.

Plus a urinary tract infection is something that shows up on a medical test. It's real and everyone believes you. Unlike CFS or Fibro....

Urinary Tract Follies I

I haven't done a true fibro/cfs update in quite some time. My dad's death which was followed by the death of my 18 year old cat Jasper flat did me in. I just couldn't get it going to do fibro/cfs posts. But, I'm finally getting back on track. So here we go - on to everyone's favorite topic: my urinary tract.

I have Irritable Bladder Syndrome which is one of the very entertaining side effects of cfs/fibro. However, as a result of my Interstim Implant, I've improved a great deal: at least 80%. So life has been very good in that particular Slat Rat region.

In fact I'm, doing so well overall as a result of Dr. Bateman's regimen, that I've been able to start skate skiing again - just like a Slat Rat should.

I've been skiing regularly for about a week and have been going pretty great. But (you knew there had to be a "but"), there seems to be have been a unforeseen significant side effect. My Interstim implant wires have moved - it happened on Saturday. My implant was fine Saturday morning. However, when I adjusted it on Sunday morning, the "zotz" was no longer there. I usually have it on a setting of "three." I dialed it up to three and nothing happened at all. I kept going - all the way up to ten and still nothing. I thought maybe the control or battery had gone bad. Until I changed position and got the crap zotzed out of me in a very sensitive area.

I had x-rays taken Tuesday morning. It sure looks like the wires have moved a tad - which is all it takes. My urologist, who is in Seattle, needs to review the xrays. But it certainly doesn't look or act good. There are two other implanted leads that might work - they have not worked for me in the past. But who knows, maybe they moved back into position.

All I know, is that if I have to have surgery, I'm having it after the ski season!
