Record temperatures have been reached here in Switzerland this summer. The previous high of 39 deg C from (1952 in Basel) was beaten with 41.5 deg C. High ozone content in the air has prompted speed limits (80 km/h on the highway) in Tessin. Wine growers have started harvesting their crop a month earlier than usual. The water level in some rivers are at a record low while others, which are close to glaciers, are at record highs. Forest fires are raging not just here in Switzerland but in various parts of Italy, France, Portugal and Spain. The Matterhorn had to be closed to mountaineers due to a rock slide. What is all this due to?
