An original way to get your MP3s in the living room

Toys.

But the coolest toy of the day (ordered from Amazon) is the Turtle Beach AudioTron 101. This is a piece of stereo-sized/shaped equipment that is designed to play MP3 and WMA files, as well as streaming MP3 and Windows Media.

The design is quite simple: it has both Ethernet and HPNA for network connectivity, and analog and digital audio output. On startup, it grabs an IP address via DHCP and scans the network for machines with shares (Windows or Samba) that contain music. It automatically categorizes the music using the MP3 tags or the data embedded in WMA files. The front panel sports a 40 character x 2 row interface that makes it easy to navigate music by artist, album, or genre, and quickly and easily play the music.

Cool indeed !

Maven presented in javaworld

Maven ties together tools for better code management
The Maven tool gives developers a complete picture of their projects. Jeff Linwood

Jeff does a good job at presenting Maven's functionalities in this article, although the code fragments out of his project.xml are too verbose (I print all this stuff on a HP Deskjet 500, so I'm sensitive to wasted space :-).

It was time that Maven got some exposure: it fulfills a very useful need.
