I am once again programming in Scheme, a 25 year old notation (or 45 depending on how you count), now ported to the Java and C# "assembly language" platforms, and easily ported to the next ones that come along in five years. See you then.  [Patrick Logan's Radio Weblog]

I've been thinking a lot about this comment and about Patrick's presentation at DevCon.  So Patrick's comment really resonates, thinking about the recent mandate by the powers that be that I become a Java developer again.  I've been sitting in meetings listening to debates about Java design patterns vs. C# patterns, Apache vs. IIS vs. Weblogic, VS.Net vs. WebSphere Application Developer vs.  JBuilder... it's pretty depressing.  Why is this so hard?
