I was running some lengthy performance tests today, so this site got a makeover while my tests were running.  I used Bryan Bell's Moveable Radio:blue theme and then modified it to come up with something closer to my preferred look.

There's actually a story behind the color scheme.  When my wife and I got married, she picked the wedding colors as ivory, navy, and gold.  When I put up a website for our wedding, I decided to use those colors in the stylesheet for the site, and found that I liked the look.  So much so that I've kept it going across 2 sites for over 2 years now.  One thing I like is that it's fairly high contrast, so my aging eyes can handle it pretty well.  That this scheme also has sentimental value is a big plus, too :-)

Now one of these days I'll implement Mark Pilgrim's usability guidelines.  I'd also like to go to a full XHTML theme, but I'd also have to scrub my archives, and the IE HTML editing control would have to go too, since it's the main cause of my non-compliance.  Considering that I've wanted to makeover the site for a few months now, don't hold your breath.
