In Winnipeg there are a bunch of parking lots downtown where you can pay for your parking with a cell phone.  I admit to using this all the time.  Well,  Vancouver, Canada now has this same sort of service to allow motorists to feed their parking meters with their cell phone.   Each meter has a unique number, you call it with your cell phone, the system recognizes them by Caller ID,  and then enter how many minutes you want.   I think the best part is the reminder text message before my time is up and I can extend my time remotely.   How soon before candy bar and softdrink machines catch on? 8:40:15 AM

Zeropaid - Spain has recently voted in compulsory copyright licensing, levying a tax on all blank media.  This includes cd-r, dvd-r, flash media, printers, scanners, cell phones, everything. The tax will be collected by the government and 'given to the copyright holder.' 8:31:17 AM
