The Society of Professional Journalists has launched a new site reaching out to freelance journalists, complete with its own blog and resource list.
Bloggers may be interested in SPJ's current definition of "professional" for membership purposes: "You spend
more than half your time working as a journalist or j-educator."
And, if you're the significant other of one of those professional SPJ members, you can join for half price. Not the inducement to get romantic with a journalist, I guess, but who knows... Students also get a reduced rate.
Many of SPJ's resources and services are available at http://SPJ.org for free, whether you are a member or not, but others, including SPJ's magazine... and the warm feeling that your dues might help in a journalist's legal defense fund... are well worth the price of admission.
