Funny how connections work. A friend in North Carolina mentioned that the guy who repaired a guitar of mine 10 years ago had moved to Floyd, Va., down the road from my new home... and the guitar needs work again.

So I went looking for him online... and found a reference to him in a February entry in a local blog named Blue Ridge Muse, which also had some great photos from this weekend's Floydfest. (Which, alas, I decided to sit-out while setting up computers and bookcases at my new home.)

A little more mouse-clicking revealed that the blog's author, Doug Thompson, spent even more time behind a keyboard and camera in the newspaper business than I did, plus a D.C. detour... and has been blogging long enough to call his Capitol Hill Blue "The oldest political news site on the Web."

If I didn't have more books to shelve, I'd read even more. But I was fascinated by his report of some recent online intrigue involving a scandal-mongering phony blog, which Thompson succeeded in putting out of operation. (I even got the "Mess with the best..." headline reference.)
