where am i getting this zinn from I got a comment asking where I got the Zinn and where can it be found on the web. I guess I should mention that I'm a radio producer, and that this is fresh stuff, not to be found on the net, straight from zinn's mouth to the mini disk player to the web. I haven't been posting much of my radio work, mainly because I want a non-radio (as in am/fm) forum for my thoughts. But sometimes I do feel compelled to share bits of the pieces I'm working on. If I have time, I'll post more of the zinn. I'm updating my other website, which has my radio work on it. Stay tuned. 9:28:49 PM comment [] ![]() |

more zinn i wish there were more teachers like zinn. You know patriotism is not support of your government, unswerving unquestioning support of our government. Patriotism means support of your country, support of the principles to which your country stands. Now you have to go back to the Declaration of Independence, the Declaration of Independence says that government is an artificial creation set-up by the people to achieve certain ends of equality, life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness. And when governments become destructive of those ends, the Declaration says that it's the right of the people to alter or abolish government. That's a strong statement. That's why the Declaration of Independence is not a legal document. It's just hung up on school walls, you see, but not used. Because the Declaration of Independence says that governments are secondary and people are first, and that therefore, simply to support your government, whatever it does, is not being patriotic. When a government acts against the interests of the people, and the government does not fulfill its obligation to defend the right of people to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, I would argue that the government is being unpatriotic. 12:52:36 PM comment [] ![]() |
