Here is some research that shows us the potential for E- Communities to help with Chronic Illness. It was found by Dr. Marc Pierson ( http://www.wwpp.org/users/0000002/) who always has intersting stuff on his site.

Our Healthcare system is still really focused on the task of the late 19th century - diagnosing and treating acute illness. But our problem today is that 70% of illness is not acute but chronic. Here is an excellent report on this paradox
