As I had a lot of spare time in the last days and as the heat really forces you to do nothing, I read a lot and watched some movies. The last film by Brian de Palma, Femme Fatale, is really a great movie which is by far one of the best films I saw in the last months. Now, this is not very unusual as I'm a great fan of de Palma but the movie got some "not so good critics" which I think are not justifiable. But you have to watch the movie yourself and make your own decision.
I finally managed to start reading "The Lord of the Rings" and the prequel "The little hobbit". I'm now half way through and it's really a great epic. Ok, I guess most of you read this 20 years ago, so you know it already. I watched two weeks ago the second part "The two towers" which I really didn't like that much. And in addition the first part is really not the best movie. If you compare the books with the movies than you will notice a lot of differences and I found out, that if you know the book, it's for any reason much more fun to watch the movies and a lot more interesting.
If you haven't read the books, well, the movies rather look like as if they are incomplete and they are a little bit confusing as some details are missing. So, I suggest, if you didn't like the movies or haven't seen them, read the books first and watch again. It might help and if not, well, you have lost a lot of time...
