Dogs falls six stories on 'Dog Days' Animal Planet show If you have frisky dogs, it's never a good idea to let them frolic on a six-story roof, no matter what the reason. David Roma unleashed his 2-year-old Staffordshire terriers Giuseppe and Orion so they could run around while he was interviewed for an upcoming 'Dog Days' episode.  Both dogs accidentally jumped off the roof: 'Giuseppe died instantly, while his brother Orion survived but broke all four legs and racked up $20,000 in bills at an animal hospital...' Why people cherish dogs is no mystery... AZ Dogs are cute, innocent and faithful... (duh)

The real mystery is why people allow dogs to turn vicious and attack strangers... and why are adoption rates of pit bulls UP, not down, when the news is full of attack stories and fatalies by pit bulls?.. And why is it that the very type of people who should never own a dog, let alone a pit bull, are allowed to purchase them? I don't think pit bulls are to blame. No, blame the people who purchase such dogs with no understanding of their lethal ability to kill and maim. And the people who purchase such dogs for illegal dog fighting rings. Why own a pit bull unless you are willing to dedicate a sizable portion of your life training and supervising it... Why don't authorities consider licensing so-called dangerous breeds only to people certified  in dog training and ownership. Banning breeds will never work...

Saddam Hussein likes to torture dogs... and people who disagree with him, according to 'Man bites dog' by  Jonah Goldberg: 'Saddam Hussein first made a name for himself as a boy by torturing and killing dogs with a white-hot steel bar...'  And if you're thinking of moving to an Islamic country, better leave your dog behind... Man's dog poisoned, home torched... nobody knows why UK Trevor Ridgewell. has no idea why some unknown assailants are trying to force him from his rented home. His home was torched while he was home playing cards and now he has nothing left. He is mystified by the harrassment and determined not to leave his home of 10 years: 'If they have a grievance, why don't they just come and see me?...' Rescue dogs' noses to the rescue... DC Sniffing out cancer risk to human rescue workers at the Pentagon 9/11 site is now the priority of two dogs, Bailey and Riley. During rescue operations, the dogs and their noses suffered high exposure to toxic fumes. Now the dogs' noses will be used in a cancer study to determine whether such exposure will result in nasal cancer... and the associated risk of exposure for their human comrades. 'Researchers expect the study to give the first clear picture of the health risks associated with disaster sites such as the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, where rescue dogs inhaled asbestos particles and the fumes of burning jet fuel...'  [Washington Post]
