hmmm... are chows welcome? So far, two groomers refused to even see our dogs in the last month... based on the breed... phooey... "we don't take ANY chow, ever, not even your chow," and that was sight unseen. I offfered to show her my pooches, waiting in the car, but I was summarily dismissed with 'no way.' Chows may be welcome in a forum, but in real life... not. Meanwhile, our dog still visits for Pets on Wheels and patiently listens to his friends at the hospital day care center where he visits...

Dogged by injury ... ACL should be a four letter word NY [Staten Island Advance] We just found out our newest addition to our dog family has chronic ACLs, anterior cruciate ligament tears, in both her hind legs. A veterinary surgeon explained that she has ruptured knees; the future holds surgery for her, long-term rehabiliation (a year, if everything goes well), a year of on-leash supervision at all times, and a lifetime of dietary supplements and arthritis medicine. You'd never know it, to see her running around.... but when she's climbing steps, she drags herself over them with her well-muscled front legs. The good news is that there is plenty we can do to fix her injuries... with excellent veterinary help. (aargh... not again... )
