Photogenic Dogs Wanted for Calendar VA

From Washington Post: "Alexandria dog owners have an opportunity to make their pets stars. The first "Dogs of Alexandria" Calendar is being created to benefit the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, and pet owners can enter their dogs in a photo contest to win a spot in the calendar.

Because the concept behind the calendar is to showcase dogs available at the shelter, only former Alexandria shelter dogs are eligible. Photo entries of dogs adopted from the Alexandria shelter are being accepted until Aug. 24. Photos may be color or black-and-white and are limited to one entry per dog.

Entry forms are available at the Alexandria shelter, 4101 Eisenhower Ave., and on the shelter's Web site, alexandriaanimals.org, under "Special Events." Entry forms are also available at several dog-friendly merchants in the city, including: Olde Towne School for Dogs, Pro-Feed, Fetch, You Lucky Dog, Alexandria and Del Ray animal hospitals, St. Elmo's Coffee Pub, Olsson's Books and Records, and Ben & Jerry's."
