Fur flies over alleged mismanagement of Montgomery County Humane Society's Animal  Shelter MD 'Critics are calling on the county to take a closer look at the Montgomery County Humane Society's management of the county's animal shelter in Rockville...' Some of the problems divulged so far:

• unresponsiveness of management to issues raised by volunteers and citizens. Volunteers get 'fired', when raising issues...
• donated money is delayed or withheld from targeted projects and does not aid animals
•  'poor customer service, specifically inconsistencies and delays that cause some people to leave without adopting an animal...'

Citizens at the meeting with the Humane Society Board on Thursday also questioned the management of funds set aside for building a no-kill shelter... More meetings with Doug Duncan and County officials are planned... [Gazette Regional News, Ivan Socher]
