I think the same way that people escape the cacaphony of their daily lives in retreat, those of us who live in quietude should retreat to cacaphony on ocassion. It makes the quiet moments, the normalcy, all the more appreciated when it returns. My god, I look forward to quiet more than anything else in the world right now. I know what it must be like for children in large families, trying to catch a moment of peace. And it makes me debate whether or not I ever want to subject myself to the constant interruptions and intrusions of offspring in my own life.
