I was just thinking about a romantic story centered around a couple of gastronomiques who share a passion for cheese, and the crowning, romantic, music swells moment would be the relucantant part of the pair finally offering the nose of the cheese to him or her.

The dilemma for me, with a story like that in my mind, and the obvious potential that has for fun drama with a real person, is whether or not I'm violating copyright by migrating lines from the imagination into the real world.

That's one of the essential questions, for me, of existence. When large parts of life are experienced as a novel narrative, how do people either successfully disassociate themselves from life's meta layers and live in each moment, blissfully ignorant, or so successfully enter the narrative that they have an almost clairvoirant sense of the flow. Right now, mostly, I feel in between - aware of the narrative, but still experiencing the actual moments within as real.

Perhaps some pundits are talking about this somewhere I haven't read, but in all the discussions and news about the Iowa caucuses, no where have I seen anyone talk about the singular difference in this year's campaign - and that is Howard Dean. He's made the race engaging and exiciting, and forced CW wisdom itself into the debate. As someone who scoffed at the campaign initially, at my first Dean meet up event, I have been astounded by the results of those folks less wise, less hardened than myself who gave this a go from the beginning, and didn't let up, despite folks like myself telling them how naive they were.
