Can you find the next Killer App by looking?.
I suspect most of the low hanging fruit of the desktop software world have been been picked - or that there's so much risk of MS attacking the venture and using their monopoly to crush any competition that it'd be too hard to get sufficient funding for a truly killer app - unless its open source.

Wow - just reading all my news aggregator backlog, I'm amazed by how many people love IDEA. I thought all bloggers were crazy Eclipse fans! Good to see there's some smart people in the world

If you didn't see it already, the gods at JetBrains have finally released IDEA 3.0 upon the world. If you're an IDEA fan, you've probably used all the recent EAP releases so it's not actually that exciting (you've already got all the cool features!) - but to say it eclipses all other IDEs (while being a bad pun) is an understatement.

Phew! OK - after a long time, I've finally updated the Java and J2EE Weblogs list with about 20 new blogs - great stuff!

Apologies to everyone who has emailed me in the last few weeks and not gotten up yet, they're all up now.

Should be lots of good reading there for regular readers! Plenty of feeds to subscribe to (cause you need more of those!) and lots more good thoughts.
