•••God in Hindsight

Our area LCMS pastors gather each month to worship and study together. I really enjoy being a hearer of preaching as well as a preacherman. The text the preacher proclaimed was that familiar verse from Psalm 23:

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

Familiar words, but they really struck me anew this time. Often those situations arise in life where one seems to see no sign or evidence of God's mercy or goodness. Stuck in the muck of our own messy lives, faith gets bogged down with the hurt, fear and confusion of the moment.

I noticed in the Psalm that "goodness and mercy shall follow." They're almost always more evident behind us, in the past, than they are in the present crisis at hand. I just let that soak in for a while: goodness and mercy shall follow me.

I love verbs. That's where the action is!

•••Intelligent Design?

Planning, thought, resources, precision, intention, purpose, limits...intelligent design.

Could this mean life does, in fact, have an order and purpose which probably does not simply spawn itself at random from a primordial goo?
