RSS Day at Adotas
Feed the Need: Surveying the Past, Present and Future of RSS.
As slow as the adoption of RSS and RSS advertising has been, it's
certainly here and not going anywhere anytime soon. With the influx of
downloadable RSS applications, news aggregators and third party
companies like Yahoo! offering the service; it's cheap and available
and has become one of the buzzword of the last couple years. That said,
it's got a lot of growing up to do.
At this point in the game it seems more of an awareness issue than
anything else. As a Yahoo Ipsos study tells us, 12% of users have heard
of RSS, but only 4% have knowingly used the technology...

Mediaburn Gestures and the Next Wave
Surf's Up. Skimming
thru the blogosphere tonight, I caught a Scott Rosenberg quote of a
quote by Cory Doctorow to the effect that punning, obstruse headlines
are bad news because they cut down on clicks i.e. page views.
Forgetting for a moment that creative headlines work wonders in full
text feeds, the types of audiences gathered by the page view model may
be large but not qualified. A relationship audience has powerful
characteristics that are reinforced by shorthand, nicknames, shared
gestures, etc. Combine page view and gestures and you have the next
wave. See you at the pool.

Style Returns with Circa 1975 Discovery of Wallets & Accessories
Tuesday,
April 11, 2006, Carlsbad, Ca, - Maxfield Provisions uncovers original
Circa 1975 Hang Ten and Hawaiian Reflections accessories not seen for
close to thirty years. The excess surplus from the 1970's was recently
discovered in the companies manufacturing warehouse in North San Diego
County. The company was the original manufacturer of accessories that
incorporated the use of Velcro for wallets, handbags and other
accessories for the surfing community. The discovery of wallets,
purses and other assorted accessories made of corduroy, nylon and
westin weave was an astonishing find.
Shawn Allen Maxfield,
CEO of both Maxfield Provisions and K&M Stacker had these comments
to say of the good fortune, "These products remind us all of a time
when it was all about simplicity, style, durability and being Made in
USA. This brought me back to an era when surfing and skateboarding
seemed to emit nothing but style. We were incredibly fortunate to find
such historical pieces in such pristine condition."
Plans
are
being finalized to bring the items out for everyone to enjoy again.
"With this type of treasure being found", stated Shawn Maxfield, "There
is no reason to keep hidden what we originally built for the surfing
and skateboarding communities. Just recently a few members of the
surfing community have been able to get their old wallets replaced with
the same ones they originally had and are feeling the stoke again. To
view a sample of the discovery, visit us at Maxfieldprovisions.com. About Maxfield Provisions /K&M Stacker Shawn
Maxfield established Maxfield Provisions and K & M Stacker in 2004.
The company has evolved since that time into a sophisticated
manufacturing entity, with facilities based in San Diego and Orange
County. In addition to The Stacker- the revolutionary item that
provides protection to surfboards while placed on the racks, the
company manufactures backpacks, clothing, other surfing accessories and
works with outdoor retailers throughout the country. All products are
made in the USA. Plans are in the works to expand to the East Coast and
Europe. The company currently employs 12 and is privately held.
